So I am ashamed to say

I went and got new glasses on Monday. They haven't come in yet so I can't horrify you all with pictures just as of yet, but I had to post my tribe confession. Apparently my face is so small that I had to get kids frames, yet again. Which royally blows because aside from the fact my new glasses are made by Disney I had very limited choices in what would work on my face, and what I did want to get was ruled out because it would interfere with my prescription (not enough lens room).

Totally depressing. I'm stuck in a glasses rut. I will never be able to wear a nice pair!

I didn't see anything wrong with the glasses you are wareing in your profile pic. I think you look good with them on. Hope you don't mind me for saying that. :)

Thanks. Those are my old half frame glasses - again children's glasses. Unfortunately they are 2 years old and have been bent so many times by my two year old they are not fit to wear any more. They could break any second if they are breathed on wrong. Plus my prescription has changed, probably from wearing bent frames. *chuckle*

I have the same problem. I have a small face and very little to choose from in franes that will fit. Plus I have a very high perscription and have to get thin lenses so that also limits the types of frames I can use because of the edges of the lenses effect the periferal vision. I have gotten Disney and Warner Bros glasses myself...just have to avoid the ones that have Barbie on the temple peice.

Hah! I know people who've used their favorite RayBans frames for their eyeglasses. Talk about lookin' cool.

Maybe you need to visit another optometrist who provides a greater variety of frames. Or is willing to find a vendor who specializes.

Pictures of the glasses and me in them successfully added to my profile. Enjoy, but don't laugh too hard.

So tell me, just how bad is it? I'm being taunted mercilessly by most of my friends who say it makes me look too innocent and girly.

I am an optician and was sad to hear that you thought you could only wear kids frames. There are a lot of different lines out there for petite adults. Ask about Nine West, Flexon or Silhouette. I fit a lot of really petite women. Actually, Disney glasses are really cute. I have the opposite problem. I have a wide head, so I can never find anything cute that fits. Except for sunglasses. They are made for big heads like me.

I tried some of those on and they didn't fit. Did they just not stock the smaller sizes? As it is my toddler can fit my glasses perfectly. My head is really really small.

When I have money for new frames I'll have to do some looking into those.

I'm surprised you have such a hard time. I am very petite, and also have a tiny head (I just got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago, and the stylist kept saying, "You have such a little head!"), but I've never bought children's glasses (not since I became an adult, anyway).

It's possible that the places you've been haven't been stocking smaller sizes when you've gone to try on frames. It might help to start looking at smaller, independent retailers; they'll still take your eye insurance (if your employer covers vision benefits), and they'll likely have a more varied--and more interesting--selection than the larger chains.

In the meantime, enjoy the cute new frames:)

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it! I've always been a bit sensitive about wearing glasses. I've never had experience with any male finding them attractive, and I've never felt attractive in them.

More of a problem with the males you know then how you look in your glasses in my opinion.
